The Rodríguez Collection is distinguished by preserving works primarily created by Cuban artists. Its meticulous curation encompasses the most significant artistic movements from the mid-20th century to the most innovative contemporary expressions of our time. RC stands out not only for its diversity and breadth but also for its commitment to inclusivity and the fair representation of all voices that have contributed to the rich history of Cuban art. It focuses on the historical importance of the works, pieces that have marked milestones in the evolution of Cuban art. The collection covers a wide range of styles and movements. Each work has been chosen for its ability to narrate the evolution of art in Cuba.
RC encompasses key movements such as Modernism and Vanguardism, art produced within the politicized context of the Cuban Revolution, New Figuration, Conceptual Art, and contemporary art. A significant portion of the collection includes pieces created by emigrant artists living and working in the United States, primarily in the state of Florida. These works reflect not only their confrontation with new challenges but also their resilience, reinvention, and adaptation to new realities and influences. In its commitment to preserving, safeguarding, and promoting art produced by its community, it prioritizes inclusivity, ensuring that the majority of voices are heard and represented. Therefore, the collection does not focus on acquiring works by specific artists, but rather on their importance or role within their cultural and historical context. This approach allows for a more comprehensive and nuanced view of Cuban art, highlighting both well-known artists and those who, though less recognized, have made significant contributions. Attention is also given to art created within Cuban borders, to emerging artists, and to the poetics inspired by contemporary economic and political scenarios.
Being attentive to the art produced by Cuban artists anywhere in the world reflects RC's interest in the variety of experiences and perspectives within contemporary Cuban art. RC is not only a testament to the rich history of Cuban art but also serves as an educational tool. Through our exhibitions and educational programs, we aim to foster understanding and appreciation of Cuban art in all its facets. In the past year, following the conversion of the Kendall Art Center into the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas, pieces from the rest of the Americas have begun to be incorporated, and our exhibition program has become significantly more international. This expansion has opened up to all segments of the Florida community and provided the opportunity to share the art produced by its artists in an area that has lacked a variety of cultural offerings and spaces for the promotion and enjoyment of visual arts. We believe that this approach enriches our understanding of art and history, promoting greater empathy and connection among people. We hope that the enjoyment of these works will inspire new generations to appreciate and continue this extraordinary artistic tradition.
Additional Collections
In addition to its main collection, the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas (MoCAA) encompasses other specific artistic manifestations, such as photography, ceramic art, bronze sculptures, and one of the most interesting: the collection dedicated exclusively to works created by women artists.
The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas (MoCAA) is an emerging museum dedicated to the preservation of contemporary Caribbean and Latin American art, serving the diverse communities of South Florida and the Americas. It is also committed to the local artistic community by promoting creativity, cultural exchange, and professional development. To this end, it has conceived various initiatives, including a series of educational programs and workshops for artists of all ages and skill levels, residency programs to allow these creators to work on their projects with access to the museum's resources. MoCAA offers lectures and talks with artists, critics, and art experts to foster continuous learning. With equal enthusiasm, it pays great attention to the promotion and dissemination of contemporary art from Cuba and the rest of the Americas. It has created a robust and dynamic exhibition program and dedicates its spaces to showcasing local and other community artists, providing them with a platform to display their work. It makes available its digital and physical platforms, publishes catalogs, and uses its social media and website to highlight artists, events, and its programs.
MoCAA considers it vital to bring its artists and the art they produce to other spaces outside their context of creation, that is, to art centers, cultural institutions, and museums outside the city of Miami and South Florida, whether in the rest of the state, throughout the United States, or abroad. Exhibiting artists and their works in different contexts enriches the cultural perspectives of both sides, promoting a deeper and more diverse understanding of art. It facilitates the exchange of ideas, techniques, and artistic concepts between different cultures, which can inspire new forms of expression and collaboration. Artists find it crucial to exhibit their work in other regions or countries because it increases their visibility and recognition, both nationally and internationally, and allows them to open new opportunities and markets. Moreover, presenting this artistic product to a broader audience can revalue it and highlight the importance of their art and culture in general.
Taking this mission into account, the museum proposes its collections to spaces, institutions, museums, curators, and specialists who may find them of interest. It aims to foster Intercultural Dialogue, collaborate, if the opportunity arises, in the conception and implementation of joint educational programs that benefit students and the general public with a broad vision of art, and share experiences and practices that allow us, through joint learning, to improve the management and exhibition of collections. The globalization of art from the Americas is a cultural imperative to strengthen our communities, reinforcing our commitment to inclusivity and the representation of diverse voices and perspectives in art wherever possible.
We are convinced that exhibiting our collections would also be beneficial for the receiving institution. It would attract a broader and more diverse audience, granting access to a splendid array of artistic works produced by artist communities that have long been underrepresented. The evaluation and viewing of these collections can provide a solid foundation for educational programs exploring topics such as the history of Cuban and Latin American art, ceramic techniques, the evolution of photography, and the importance of inclusion in art. Their variety can appeal to different visitor groups, from contemporary art enthusiasts and collectors to casual art lovers, motivating them to return to explore new and different exhibitions. Most importantly, we believe that these exchanges generate recognition and prestige, positioning our institutions as cultural and artistic benchmarks. The reputation of having varied and significant collections can attract collaborations with other institutions and sponsors interested in supporting culture and the arts. In conclusion, a diverse cultural offering can attract tourists and international visitors, boosting cultural tourism in the region.

Ceramic Art Collection at the Fine Arts Ceramic Center
The photography collection includes 54 originals by 38 photographers, of which 33 are of Cuban origin and 5 are foreign: two Brazilians, one American, one Peruvian, and one Spanish artist residing in South Florida. The ceramics collection is one of the most important in the museum and certainly the most unique. It comprises 496 original handmade ceramic plates created by 70 artists who do not regularly work with ceramic techniques. All the plates are of the same dimension and were produced at the Fine Arts Ceramic Center, which is affiliated with the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas. This collection has toured outside our space the most and is by far the most requested. Additionally, the museum has produced 13 murals created by 11 artists and possesses a large number of ceramic art objects, including small to medium-sized sculptures and installations.
MoCAA Sculptures
The sculptures in the Rodriguez Collection occupy a modest yet vigorous space. In 2023, bronze sculptures based on pieces belonging to the collection began to be produced. Selected artists have had the opportunity to bring to the third dimension, with a high standard of quality, pieces they originally created on canvas or paper. To this end, the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas established the Bronze Art Foundry Foundation, not only to produce artworks but also to promote the art of bronze casting, serving as an educational center for artists and the community at large. Additionally, the museum boasts a series of sculptures.
The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas (MoCAA) is a non-profit organization primarily conceived to promote the art and artists of the South Florida community. To achieve this, if necessary:
• We handle the transportation of our pieces within the United States, both to and from the venue.
• We do not require insurance for exhibiting the vast majority of our artworks.
• If needed, we assist with installation, curation, and exhibition design for both general and specific projects.
• We ensure adequate promotion on our digital platforms and social media.
• We create a documentary catalog afterwards, primarily for printing through Amazon KDP.
• The exhibition duration of the pieces is variable and can be adjusted to the interests of the hosting institution.
MoCAA also collaborates with many of the artists whose works are part of its collection and often invites them to conduct lectures, workshops, or joint marketing activities.
Thank you very much for your attention. We look forward to working with you on an extraordinary project!
