A selection of works from the recent Pop Up Show 'Halando parejo' will remain on display throughout October and extend into November of this year. Additionally, we are introducing pieces previously unseen in our context. Guided solely by the keen interest of a discerning segment of the audience and the museum's intention to share artworks that now enrich its collection, 'Harvest Bazaar' brings together a diverse group of creators. Their oeuvre predominantly centers on the human figure as a sociopolitical subject.
The central figures in these pieces seem distanced from the 'prevailing official discourse'. Cuban art, at various junctures, has invariably delved into the political realm. It's hardly surprising given the starkly politicized milieu. Perhaps this is why all these protagonists exude a sense of homeland—a profoundly personal homeland, one whose boundaries neither extend nor aspire beyond their own epidermis. These works encapsulate nearly the entire spectrum of Cuban cultural imagery: the tensions between life and death, between body and spirit, between the societal collective and authority. Ranging from sensuality to a playful engagement that unabashedly showcases its lack of political allegiance, both mourning and festivity coexist harmoniously.
Featured in 'Harvest Bazaar' are photographers Raúl Corrales, René Peña, Cirenaica Moreira, Evelyn Sosa, Willy Castellanos, Eduardo García, Lisbet Goenaga, and Néstor Álvarez. Additionally, the multidisciplinary artists Ivonne Ferrer, Milena Martínez Pedrosa, Leticia Sánchez, Mónica Batard, Frank Martínez, Julio César Peña and Jorge Rodriguez (R10) are also showcased."
