Segundo Planes Herrera (b. Pinar del Río, 1965) graduated from the Provincial School of Visual Arts in Pinar del Río (1979), the National School of Art in Havana (1983) and the Superior Institute of Art in Havana (1989). His solo exhibitions include Memorias del Circo (Circus Memories) at the Instituto de América in Granada, Spain, 2003; Retratos: El otro (Portraits: The Other) at Arcaute Gallery in Monterrey, Mexico, 2002; Laberintos del yo: Lágrimas de Oro (Mazes of the Self: Golden Tears) at the Metropolitan Museum in Monterrey, Mexico, 2001; Pa-eternidad (Pa-Eternity) at Mackey Gallery in Houston, Texas, 2001; Saliendo del mar (Emerging From the Sea) at the Cuenca Museum of Modern Art in Cuenca, Ecuador, 1999; Fumándome el Horizonte (Smoking the Horizon) at Ramis Barquet Gallery in Monterrey, Mexico, 1993; Yo no soy ni el otro, yo soy alguno ni ninguno (I Am not the Other, I Am Someone or No One) at Habana Gallery in Havana, 1990; Soy un estúpido (I Am Stupid) at La Fuerza Castle in Havana, 1989. His works are part of important public and private collections in the United States, Europe and Latin America.
