Belkis Martín Pérez (Havana, 1965) began her involvement with the visual arts in 1998, when she started working at the Concha Ferrant Gallery in Guanabacoa, Havana, Cuba. From 2000 onwards, she worked at Nelson Domínguez's “Los Oficios” Gallery, first as an assistant and later as its director. She has created promotional material for various Cuban artists, including Raciel Gómez Golpe, Alberto Hernández, Ania Toledo, Gabriel Sánchez, Maikel Sotomayor, and Serones, among others. She also managed the promotion and publicity for the Cuban filmmaker Rudy Mora's movie Y, sin embargo.... Martín Pérez coordinated and produced numerous solo and group exhibitions in Cuba and Mexico.
Her work as a lens-based artist has been featured in various print and digital media, including La Gaceta de Cuba, Artcrónica, FANZINE issue 3 'Emerging Artists,' and the independent editorial collective Periferia, among others. She has held two solo exhibitions: Desmembradas at Estudio-Taller Corralfalso 259, Guanabacoa, Havana, in 2022, and Sintonías at the Milander Center for Arts and Entertainment in Hialeah, Miami, FL, USA. She has also participated in about half a dozen group exhibitions, both in Cuba and internationally. Since its founding in 2012, she has served as a photographer and public relations specialist for Artcrónica magazine.
