Sandra Ceballos is a renowned Cuban Postwar & Contemporary artist, whose journey in art began with studies in painting, sculpture, and engraving at the San Alejandro School of Plastic Arts, graduating in 1983. Her early career was marked by significant workshops, including a Tapestry Workshop with Mexican artist Marta Palau at Casa de las Américas in 1984, and a Photography Workshop with Luis Camnitzer at the Fototeca de Cuba in 1988. Ceballos has been a pivotal figure in the Cuban art scene over the past three decades, co-founding Espacio Aglutinador with Ezequiel Suárez. This space, situated in her own home-studio, emerged as Cuba's first independent and alternative art venue after the revolutionary triumph.

Ceballos's work has been exhibited in numerous esteemed galleries and museums, including the Passerelle Centre d'Art Contemporain in Brest. She debuted with 'Dialogo de Sandra y Manuel Vidal' at Galería L in Havana, followed by her solo exhibition 'Paisajes y paradojas' at the Centro de Arte de 23 y 12. She also shared the spotlight with artist José Forte at Havana's Napoleonic Museum in the 'Beta' exhibition, concluding this phase at the Castillo de la Fuerza with 'La Bella y la Bestia'. Post the fall of European Socialism, in 1993, she presented 'Special de Sandra y su marido' at Galeria de Arte Domingo Ravenet de La Lisa in Havana, preceding numerous solo exhibitions both in Cuba and internationally. Her work has been regularly featured in prominent venues such as Ninart Gallery (Nina Menocal), DF Mexico, Cuban Art Center in New York, Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, Access Gallery in Vancouver, Canada, and Track 16 Gallery at Bergamon Station in Los Angeles, USA.

Ceballos's artworks are part of esteemed collections at the Center for Cuban Studies in New York, the Bronx Museum, El Museo del Barrio in East Harlem (video-performances), the Latin American Photography Collection of Lehigh University Art Galleries in Pennsylvania, Howard Farber Fund Collection in New York, The Shelley & Donald Rubin Private Collection in New York, CIFO in Miami, the Museum of Modern Art in Michoacán, Morelia, Mexico, the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba, Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil (MACG), and Museo Universitario del Chopo in Mexico City.

Her accolades include the Jaume Wash II Painting Biennial Award in Barcelona, Spain (1986), the National Annual Prize for Contemporary Painting Juan Francisco Elso Padilla sponsored by Vitol S.A. at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba (1995), the Art Center La Conservara Award in Murcia, Spain (2014), a residency and exhibition program at Art in General and Longwood Art Project, Bronx Arts Council, NY, USA (1997), and an artist-in-residence at the School of Design and Audiovisual Media in Basel, Switzerland (1998), where she traveled, performed, and exhibited her works in Zurich, Bern, and La Chaux de Fonds.

Ceballos's work has been featured at auctions multiple times, with a record price of 10,625 USD for "Absolut Jawlensky," sold at Phillips New York in 2013. She has been the subject of articles in Art Viewer, Hyperallergic, and Miami Art Guide. Her most recent coverage was for "Abstractions Cubaines des Années 50 à Nos Jours" at Passerelle Centre d’Art Contemporain, written for Art Viewer in January 2023.
